The Brain Spa is the ongoing collaborative project of two individuals and their companies. We approach learning from distinctly different, yet complementary, viewpoints. The Brain Spa provides a unique fusion of kinesthetic, visual, auditory, experiential, sensorimotor, and cognitive learning styles. We bring out your strengths, and help you to unlock new possibilities for learning, achievement, and happiness!
MaryBeth Smith, a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner, is Director and Founder of the Feldenkrais Center of Houston. She has explored and developed innovative learning strategies for success in the performing arts and education for over 25 years. Her dissatisfaction with traditional and academic learning models led her to the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education as her primary and preferred tool for facilitating personal and professional development across a broad spectrum of domains.
The Feldenkrais® Center of Houston opened in 2002, and has assisted people in reconnecting with their innate ability to learn, move, think, and feel. MaryBeth's background is in the performing arts and movement education. A refugee from academia, MaryBeth's major influences are Dr. Thomas Houser, the writings of Moshe Feldenkrais, Carl Rogers and Milton Erickson, and the personal example of her major trainers in the Feldenkrais Method, Paul Rubin and Julie Casson-Rubin.
Chris Welsh, President and Founder of Mastery of Learning, brings over three decades of experience, interest, and research to his work in helping people to achieve through innovation. Chris employs his practical experience in accelerated learning, neuroscience, and mentoring to create professional and personal breakthroughs for clients.
Now in its 30th year, Mastery of Learning® has helped countless people to rediscover the joy of learning, and their natural ability to learn. Chris's background is in zoology and marine mammal behavior, medical technology, and the martial arts. Chris's major influences are Nobel laureate Ilya Prigogine, and Buckminster Fuller, having worked directly with each of them; and the writings of Arthur C. Clarke.
